Time off: asking Hoot
Ask Hoot to book time off, check your balance and what is coming up, or answer a question from the leave policy.
Where the new Time off is switched on, Hoot can help with your own time off. Ask in your own words, from Hoot or from the Ask about time off bar.
- Book it: "take next Friday afternoon off" shows a card with the dates, the working days counted, your balance after, any rule that stops or warns, and whether others on your team are already off. Nothing is sent until you press the card's button. The request then goes to your approver like any other.
- Your balance: "how many days do I have left" lists each leave type's balance and your time off coming up. If you approve time off, it adds counts for the people you approve: requests waiting for you, absences in the next 30 days and days a team would be under its coverage minimum. It never names a reason.
- The policy: "do I need a doctor's note for one sick day?" quotes the passages of the policy page attached to your leave types. If the policy does not cover the question, Hoot says so instead of guessing.
Dates are your own calendar days. "Friday" is the next Friday from today; "next Friday" is the Friday of next week. The card always shows the weekday and the date, so check it before you press.
The brief at the top of the planning Overview may be written by AI from counts only (never a name or a reason). Any number in it comes from the page's own figures, and when AI is not available the plain version is shown.
