Contacts & accounts

The people and companies you sell to, how they link up, and the record drawer.

Contacts are the people; accounts are the companies they belong to. Contacts, opportunities and activity all roll up to an account, so "how much pipeline does this company have?" works out of the box.

Contacts

A contact captures a name, email, phone, title, company and the account it belongs to, plus an owner, notes and a linked Noot. Add one from Contacts → New contact, or let a lead conversion create it for you.

Open a contact and the drawer's Highlights surface what matters first — email, phone, account, owner, how many opportunities are open, their combined value, and open tasks. The Related tab lists the contact's opportunities and its account, each a click away.

Accounts

An account is the company record. It holds a domain, industry, phone, website and employee count, plus an owner and notes. Because contacts and opportunities point at it, an account shows live roll-ups:

  • Open pipeline — the value of all its open opportunities.
  • Closed won — what it has bought so far.
  • Contacts and Opportunities counts, both listed under the Related tab.
  1. 1Create the account first (or as you go), then attach contacts to it from each contact's Account field.
  2. 2When you open an opportunity, set its Account so it rolls up to the company.
  3. 3Open any account to see every contact, opportunity and activity gathered in one place.
Note

A contact can carry a free-text Company and a linked Account — the linked account is what powers roll-ups and reporting, so attach one whenever you can.

Duplicates happen

If the same person or company lands twice, the Setup → Duplicates scan will spot it and let you merge the pair without losing history — see Setting up your CRM.
