Getting the most out of Hoot
How to ask well, and what Hoot can reach.
Hoot answers questions about your workspace and can create, edit and tidy work for you — always within your own permissions. Open it from the assistant button, or type /hoot in any chat thread.
Ask well
- Be specific — "summarize the last 3 messages in #launch and make a task for each decision" beats "help with launch".
- Point at context — name the project, channel or meeting so Hoot pulls the right information.
- Chain it — ask a follow-up rather than restating everything; Hoot keeps the thread.
- Ask it to do the boring part — "add a checklist to MA-14 for the release steps" is a single sentence and saves five clicks.
Give your milestones checklists
Ask Hoot to add a checklist to the task under its next milestone. That one step is what makes the Timeline start tracking schedule health for you.
Note
Hoot acts immediately rather than asking for confirmation, and tells you exactly what it changed. Everything is attributed to you in the activity log, and deletes are recoverable from the bin.
