Your to-do list
One list of what is on you, in Hoot's window - and how to edit it from the keyboard.
My to-do is one list of what is on you: the to-dos you type yourself, and the tasks and checklist steps on project boards that are yours or that somebody has flagged for you. It is the left-hand section of Hoot's window, and you can put the same list on your home page as the My to-do card.
Editing an item
- Press the pencil beside an item to edit its words. On a mouse the pencil appears when you hover over the item or reach it with the keyboard; on a touchscreen it is always there.
- Where an item's words are not a link, you can also double-click them. A single click does nothing, so you can select the words. The name of a task from a board stays a link that opens the task.
- The editor grows with the text as you type, so a long item never scrolls inside a small box. An item is one line of text that wraps: a line break you paste in becomes a space.
Keys while you edit

| Up at the start, Down at the end | Saves and moves to the item above or below. |
| Tab and Shift+Tab | Save and move to the next or the previous item. |
| Backspace in an empty item | Removes it, if it is a to-do you typed with no sub-items. Undo on the list puts it back. |
Tasks from a project board
An item that is a task or a checklist step on a project's board is marked with a link symbol and the project's name. Its words are the board's own - there is no second copy - so editing it here renames it on the board for everyone, and a change made on the board shows up here.
- You can edit one only where you could edit it on the board. Otherwise it is marked Read only; press that for the reason.
- Open on the board - the arrow beside the item - opens the task in full, whether or not you can edit it here.
- Backspace never deletes a board task from this list. Delete it on the board if that is what you mean.
