The Strategy tab

Overview, Goals, Programs, Portfolio and Reviews - one page for direction, the plan and its health.

Strategy answers three questions at every level of management: where are we going, how are we getting there, and is it working. It has five views, picked from the strip at the top: Overview, Goals, Programs, Portfolio and Reviews.

Still seeing Goals, Reporting and Resourcing?

Then your workspace is on the earlier Strategy page. Everything here arrives when it moves to the new one, and nothing you wrote is lost on the way - your goals, key results and updates are the same rows. Old links (?tab=Reporting, ?tab=Resourcing, and Goals & OKRs) land on the nearest view of the new page.

Overview

  • Direction - the vision and mission in one line each, and your pillars with the objectives under each one and their health.
  • Health of the plan - how many objectives are on track, at risk or off track, worked out from the work linked to them as well as what their owners said. When the two disagree, it says so ("marked on track, but two linked milestones slipped").
  • Portfolio pulse - programs and their projects as a health grid.
  • Needs a decision - objectives with no linked work, programs with no owner, projects off track with no recent update. Each item opens the thing it is about.
  • The brief - a short written read of what changed since last week and why, each claim pointing at the goal, program or project it is about. If it cannot be written, the bands above still show.

Scope

The scope picker at the top narrows the whole page to you, a team, a division, the organization or one program, so a team lead, a division lead and an owner each read the same page at their own level. You only ever see projects you can already see: a private project linked to a goal or program shows as a private project to everybody outside it, and is left out of the numbers you see.
